Happy Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) Awareness Day!
Twelve years ago a few individual workers, all knowing firsthand the debilitating effects Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) or Muculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) can have on work and life outside of work, took it upon themselves to ignite a movement to raise awareness of these injuries, their causes, solutions and the need for fair worker compensation. This then resulted in International RSI Awareness Day, held annually the last day of February, the only non-repetitive day on the calendar. Communities and workers hold events to bring awareness to this important workplace issue.

Navigating Change and Uncertainty Through Yoga

How can Paramedics Stay #ReadyForDuty?
Each and every day, paramedics work tirelessly to provide care and support to hundreds of thousands of individuals across our country. Over time, the physical and mental demands of that work can take its toll on their health and wellbeing, jeopardizing their readiness-for-duty. Recent evidence from the Canadian Paramedic Health and Wellness Project1 demonstrates that paramedics report energy levels that are more than 20% lower than the general Canadian population.

The campaign theme is #BalanceforBetter, and the message is that a more gender-balanced world – a gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government and a gender-balanced media, for starters – is a better world for both men and women.

It sounds slightly exaggerated, but if you read the series of articles on this site about taking steps to improve well-being, exercise comes up in almost every one of them. Solid research prescribes exercise as a solution to so much of what ails us, from depression to heart disease. Green exercise – exercising outdoors – is particularly effective in preventing disease and fighting stress.
