Half day

Identifying and controlling workplace hazards involves many processes. It’s more than simply “inspecting hazards”. Before we can effectively control hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors, we need to be familiar with their characteristics and the necessary processes to make sure they are promptly identified and analyzed. The questions and exercises in this half day workshop will help you become more familiar with hazard control concepts and through discussions of the many types of hazards that may exist in the workplace. Participants will discuss the various elements of an effective hazard control program, the nature of hazards in the workplace, and finally put everything learned together in a final exercise. The purpose of this workshop is to provide the basic knowledge and skills to identify, analyze and apply control strategies to eliminate or reduce hazardous conditions and unsafe practices in the workplace.

Appropriate for all sectors, this program is a fundamental training component for anyone designated to inspect the workplace, or H&S representatives that work to eliminate or reduce hazards found during inspection. This course was designed for those who have little to no experience in identifying and/or managing hazards in the workplace.
