IWH Prevention is the Best Medicine Toolkit

June 18, 2013 – In 2011, the Institute for Work & Health (IWH) conducted a study which explored the experiences of immigrants who have been injured at work. The study found that injured newcomers had little knowledge about their occupational health and safety rights and responsibilities, or about the workers’ compensation system. IWH then developed the Prevention is the Best Medicine toolkit to help fill this gap.

Prevention is the Best Medicine is a free toolkit which offers all of the information and resources needed to deliver instruction sessions to newcomers on occupational health and safety and workers’ compensation within an Ontario context. Included in the toolkit are sample lesson plans and slide show presentations for workshop leaders, as well as participant handouts.

All the information is available free for download on the IWH website.
