Headed by Tanya Morose and a team of regional experts, Tanya and her team serve Ontario's Public Safety sector to provide occupational health and safety training and consulting services. 

There are a number of high-hazard occupations in the Public Safety sector, including: emergency medical service workers, firefighters, corrections officers and police officers. Possible exposure to infectious diseases, MSDs, workplace violence and aggression, motor vehicle incidents, and the potential negative effects of shift work heighten the risk of occupational illnesses/injuries in Public Safety staff. The impact of occupational injuries and illnesses in the Public Safety sector can be minimized when employers take a proactive approach to health and safety.

PSHSA’s Public Safety unit has been serving Ontario for decades. With experienced instructors and proven training courses, we have made great strides in reducing and preventing occupational injuries and illnesses in the province’s Fire, Police and Paramedic Services.

PTSD

PTSD is a mental health condition caused by witnessing or experiencing actual or threatened death, serious injury or violence. Ontario has taken steps to address the harmful impacts of exposure to traumatic events on first responders, including the requirement for employers to develop PTSD Prevention Plans.
