New Mandatory Awareness Training Tools for Employers

June 6, 2014 – New mandatory awareness training tools for employers have just been posted to the Ministry of Labour’s website. These tools will assist employers in assessing their training programs, keeping records and checking worker and supervisor knowledge if basic workplace health and safety.

As of July 1st, 2014, all workers and supervisors in Ontario must complete basic occupational health and safety awareness training. The Ministry of Labour has developed an occupational health and safety awareness program which provides fundamental information on rights and duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), roles of health and safety representatives and Joint Health and Safety Committee members, and common workplace hazards. This program is available free of charge on the Ministry’s website.

PSHSA also offers a selection of health and safety awareness programs which satisfy the requirements outlined in the new regulation. Please visit www.pshsa.ca/training/mandatory-compliance to learn more about both our classroom and online course offerings.
