This session will build on the information and tools in the The Screening Handbook by Volunteers Canada.  According to the handbook, “screening is an ongoing process to: better match peoples’ skills and experience to the needs and opportunities in organizations; improve the quality and safety of programs and services in communities; and reduce the risks and liability for both people and organizations”.

Participants will learn how organizations can use an integrated approach to ensure Volunteer Screening Programs address applicable workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and practices. Key areas that will be discussed include assessment of risk, identification and control of hazards, orientation and training and supervision throughout the volunteer experience.
