Supervisor Awareness training will enhance general awareness of legislated health and safety responsibilities, including the Internal Responsibility System, worker rights as well as the supervisor’s role in workplace management.
The intent is to assist Ontario workplaces with compliance to Regulation 297/13 Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Training. Upon completion, participants will understand the requirements of Regulation 297/13 and will be informed on how to recognize, assess and control workplace hazards and how to evaluate such controls.
Applicable for all sectors, this mandatory training is applicable to all Ontario workplaces. Supervisors are required to complete this basic awareness training. Compliance is required to take place prior to July 1 2014, after July 1 2014, supervisors are required to have this training completed within one week of performing work as a supervisor. Through increased awareness participants will not only be in compliance of regulation 297/13 but improve workplace health and safety as well as workplace safety culture. The Ministry of Labour has indicated that if a supervisor has not taken the supervisor awareness course by July 1 2014 they are now required to take both the worker and supervisor session. This supervisor awareness session covers both the content of the worker and supervisor session.
